Invisalign FAQ

Can this treatment guarantee me straight teeth?

We have to take into consideration the singularities of every smile. For that reason, all Invisalign treatments start with a consultation during which the doctor will help to determine what the procedure can do for each particular smile. A specific treatment outcome cannot be guaranteed; however, it is encouraged that the patient shares its treatment goals with the doctor at the consultation.

Attachments? What are they? Do I need them for my treatment?

SmartForce® attachments are small tooth-coloured profiles (for added discretion) that are attached to your teeth. These are used as handles for your aligners to push your teeth to the correct alignment smoothly. Attachments are the secret to making elaborate tooth movement without resorting to braces, having the aligners sit snugly around them which maintains the imperceptible aspect of the Invisalign. Not every Invisalign user requires SmartForce attachments. Those who do, will have the doctor placing them at the start or during the treatment whenever they are necessary and have them removed when they are not.

In what way is Invisalign different from previous teeth straightening treatments?

Invisalign is the latest in advanced clear aligners teeth straightening treatment systems. While braces are visible and fixed structures, Invisalign aligners are removable and nearly invisible. This means no wires or brackets and complete freedom for eating your favourite foods and drinks while not having to change the way you’ve always brushed and flossed.
Even in comparison with previous clear aligners, Invisalign’s SmartTrack material construction ensures you will get your smile back on track up to 50% faster and provides a more predictable teeth movement.

Since I removed my braces, my teeth have moved again. Can Invisalign treatments help fix this?

Yes! Invisalign aligners can treat almost all common teeth-straightening related issues, whatever their complexity. Individuals who experienced their teeth shifting back after using braces have chosen Invisalign treatment as a discrete alternative to recover their smile.

Can I get Invisalign treatments with veneers or crowns?

In case you have crowns or veneers; it will depend on your doctor’s advice. Have a consultation with your doctor about the dental work you had before, mentioning veneers and crowns, and leave to your doctor to evaluate that possibility.

I had bridgework treatment on several teeth. Will Invisalign still work for me?

Invisalign clear aligners are intended to move each of your teeth individually and, since bridgework joins two or more teeth, Invisalign treatment may not be effective for your case.

Will people notice that I'm wearing aligners?

Invisalign clear aligners are virtually invisible. Some people may not even tell you’re wearing them, making Invisalign a seamless solution.

Sometimes after removing my aligners, my teeth are feeling looser. Is that usual?

Yes, it is usual. Remember your Invisalign treatment is gradually moving your teeth to their correct position and as such, your gums are re-shaping around each tooth.
Be sure to talk to your doctor about this or any other concerns you have for peace of mind.
